Subject | Rehearsal night 1/7/18 |
Message: | My son was over from San Francisco with his family and wanted to give his 8 year old daughter an introduction to some Welsh culture. At his suggestion, we attended the rehearsal last Sunday. We knew that this choir was superb, but the evening exceeded our expectations by some margin. A pleasure to listen to, not to mention dynamism of the director of music. The welcome afforded made the evening even more special. Thanks to all concerned. |

Subject | Annual Concert |
Message: | Can we thank all those involved in the Annual Concert last Saturday, 16th June, for a really special evening, it was great. We were very sad, however, to learn of the passing of several choristers who, in our 30 years of supporting the choir, we considered our friends. Congratulations to the new choristers and we hope that they get as much pleasure from being in the choir as we do listening. |

Message: | Thank you all for a lovely evening. Your concert had it all. Hymns that sent shivers up my spine (wonderful choice - all my favourites). Verdi's chorus - tears down my cheeks. So powerful and emotional. Musettas Waltz well what can I say, I had to laugh. Many thanks to all concerned. |

Subject | Our Wedding 18/05/18 |
Message: | Dear Morriston Orpheus Choir. I just wanted to send you a huge thank you for the wonderful performance you gave to us and our guests at our wedding on the 18th May in St Catherine's Church, Gorseinon. As the daughter of a lifetime member ex chorister (Glyn Thomas) it went without saying that we would want you with us on our big day. Almost half of our guests had travelled from outside Wales and most had never heard a male voice choir before. Well, we didn't half give them the best! You were absolutely fantastic and our guests are still talking about you. On a personal note, it made me very emotional to reach the end of the aisle, look up and see so many faces that I have known for years and years. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. So, once again, THANK YOU SO MUCH for being the wonderfully talented choir that you are and for coming to help us celebrate our marriage. I love you all. Sian xx |

Subject | A special Christmas Concert at Ely Cathedral. |
Message: | A Wonderful, wonderful, wonderful evening. The ingredients: A truly magnificent 900-year-old Cathedral; The Royal Household Calvary Military Band; The Morriston Orpheus Male Voice Choir and nearly one thousand paying audience. Plus, a wonderfully decorated Christmas tree! This was a formidable combination that delivered one of the truly unique, unforgettable Orpheus evenings. It was very, very special. The setting of Ely Cathedral is awe inspiring. So much British history, so much breath taking inspired stone mason architecture and tracery and as a matter of fact, the third longest nave in the country. This is the rightful platform for The Orpheus. A world class setting, performing alongside a world class Military Band; entertaining an appreciative, informed listener. The opening with The Trumpeters of the Household Cavalry was spell binding. Heard in so many different settings, but it was here and now, and with our choir. Seriously exhilarating. Following the Festival Fanfare for Christmas from HM Household Cavalry, the choir responded with amongst others, Llanfair. Very poignant and superb. There were so many extraordinary moments in this extraordinary concert, but there were two that stood out; just the most wonderful Benedictus from the Armed Man, by Karl Jenkins. The solo from the Euphonium was moving and quite exquisite. A close second was the organ recital Toccata from Symphony No 5 by Widor. Performed by James Banville. They just took over the senses. The Orpheus delivered An American Trilogy. Gwahoddiad and Morte Criste magnificently. They were just so moving and delivered to an audience that many of which had never heard the wonders of Welsh Choir Singing. They were spellbound. But this was a very large edifice to fill. The nave is 250ft long, 78 feet wide and 105 feet high. By any concert criterion, this is a massive volume for any choir to fill without amplification. Curiously, there were 42†plasma screens all down the nave but no sound amplification. It was needed for the best effect. It never ceases to amaze that all this voluntary. So many hours given to practice for perfection and then the travel, overnights, and the performance itself. To every chorister and your family, thank you. It is profoundly appreciated. And wonderfully led by Joy Amman Davies and supported by Leslie Ryan and Ieuan Jones. And the Afterglow at Ely Rugby Club was just brilliant. Thank you all for delivering an extraordinary and memorable event. Wishing you all a Very Happy and peaceful Christmas. |

Subject | Ely concert |
Message: | Great night in the wonderful Ely Cathedral with the Morriston Orpheus Male Voice Choir and the House Cavalry Band on a dry but bitterly cold night. I enjoyed the before concert rehearsal as well, as it was a chance to get up closer to see my friends in the choir ,as my concert seat was well down the nave. Would have preferred more of the Choir singing than the band but I suppose the band were the main hosts!! Sorry I couldn’t make the Afterglow but felt rough with a heavy cold and not wanted to spread y germs amongst you all. So would like to wish you all a Happy Christmas and a Healthy NewYear. Best wishes from us all in LINCOLN. X a |
