It's a MOCSA Winner

On Sunday 14 September a packed Orangery at Margam Park in Port Talbot witnessed a feast of good music at the Annual MOCSA Concert and Final of the Young Welsh Singer of the Year Competition

90 white jacketed men of the Morriston Orpheus led by Joy Amman Davies with Alice Reed at the piano, delighted the audience with a wide range of music. The undoubted stars of the afternoon however were four hugely talented young Welsh singers vying for the title of the 38th MOCSA Young Welsh Singer of the Year.

The four Finalists were

Celine Forrest  :  A 24 year old Soprano from Swansea currently at The Royal Academy.

Eirlys Myfanwy Davies: A 26 year old Mezzo Soprano from Carmarthenshire currently at The Royal Conservatoire of Scotland.

Rhiannon Llewellyn: A 26 year old Soprano from Swansea currently at The Royal Academy

Meinir Wyn Roberts: A 23 year old Soprano from Caernarfon currently at The Royal Northern College of Music.

Before announcing the result the Adjudicators commented on the high standard of the Competition and their expectation that all four Finalists had the attributes to pursue a promising career.

There could only be one winner however and the choice of the Adjudication Panel to take the title of MOCSA Young Welsh Singer of the Year 2014 was Rhiannon Llewellyn.

A couple of photos from the day are published below.
