Our support for young Welsh singers
Our support for young Welsh singers is mainly delivered through our annual Young Welsh Singer of the Year Competition and the MOCSA Concert staged every Autumn.
The winner and runner-up each receive a cash prize contributed by the Choir (£1500 to the winner) and MOCSA (£500 to the runner-up) in addition to their trophies.
The 2025 competition process has now concluded. The results are as follows.
WINNER: Owain Rowlands, Baritone originally from Llandeilo
RUNNER UP: John Rhys Liddington, Baritone originally from Llantrisant
Entries for the 2026 Competition open on 20 March and the winner and runner will perform as guests of the Morriston Orpheus Choir at the annual MOCSA Concert on Sunday 27 September at 4pm in The Orangery Margam Park, Port Talbot, Details of the concert will be published on this website and the Choir’s social media platforms in the Summer.
In addition to knowing that your membership subscription is put to good use, members receive newsletters either by email or traditional paper
copies by post, updating them with choir news, events and activities.
