Ivor E. Sims Founding Musical Director

Ivor was the founding Musical Director of the Choir in 1935. He was born in 1897 and died in 1961. A schoolmaster, Ivor took the Orpheus to numerous Eisteddfod triumphs in its early days. Included in these were four consecutive 1st Prizes from 1946 to 1949. Ivor was educated at Dynevor School Swansea and Kings College London, where he read Music and Mathematics. A highlight of Ivor's period was a Royal Command performance before her Majesty the Queen at the London Palladium in 1957.
