Come and Sing with the Orpheus

We welcome new members

You will need to learn a varied reportoire that contains a mix of traditional Welsh songs and those from other musical genres. Our Musical Director (MD) provides vocal advice and there is also help available online and from other choristers. If you have previously sang in a Choir that's great but no previous experience is necessary.

Becoming a member of the Orpheus

We rehearse once or twice a week and perform at concerts and other engagements in the UK and beyond. To join you will need to undergo a short voice assessment so that the MD can place you in the appropriate section. The Choir has four sections and the MD will place you in the section best suited to your voice range.

Singing locally and further afield

Whether it is in a local venue or in a well known concert hall, singing with the Orpheus is an unforgettable experience. Many of the current members have been with the Choir for several years and will share stories with you from all parts of the globe.
As well as the big venues, we are also aware of our commitment to the local community and in particular to charitable causes. We are keen to give pleasure through our singing and aim to maintain the proud tradition of male choirs.

Come and join us

We welcome new members of all ages. If you wish to join us you are welcome to come along to one of our rehearsals (Click here for details) . We rehearse at The Calon Lan Centre (Mynyddbach Chapel) off Llangyfelach Road in Swansea SA5 7HT.  After rehearsal many of the boys go to the adjacent Welcome Inn for a drink.

Before coming along to a rehearsal it's best to check with the Choir's General Secretary Mike Skone as occasionally rehearsals are postponed. Mike will also be happy to answer any questions you may have.
