MOCSA Young Welsh Singer of the Year Competition 2022

 

Thank you for your interest in the 2022 MOCSA Young Welsh Singer of the Year Competition.

The Competition is open to students who, on its closing date, 10 June 2022, are over 18; studying classical singing, on a full-time basis only, at a university or college and meet at least ONE of the following criteria:


1. Were born in Wales  OR

2. Have at least one parent who was born in Wales  OR

3. Resident in Wales for at least 10 years immediately prior to their 18th birthday

The Winner will receive:

The MOCSA Young Welsh Singer of the Year Trophy,
sponsored by Gravells Ltd of Kidwelly,

 (A replica of the trophy will be kept by the winner)

AND

The Ivor E Sims Memorial Prize of £1,500
donated by the Morriston Orpheus Choir

Each of the other Finalists will receive an inscribed plaque and a cheque for £300


Please submit your entry on the form below as soon as possible but by 10 June at the very latest.


Preliminary heats will be held on a nominated Sunday in Swansea. Either Sunday June 19 or Sunday June 26 are currently the identified dates. 

There is space on the entry form to confirm you will be available on these dates. Please note if you are only available on one of these dates, we will try to accommodate you on that date but cannot give any guarantee. 
 

In the preliminary heat you will be required to sing two contrasting pieces of your own choice.

Each competitor will be sent  a full explanatory letter giving details and times of the heats once details have been finalised.


The Final is currently planned for the weekend of Sunday 18 September 2022 in Swansea but is subject to change.
