You Raise Me Up

Press Release                                                                           31 May 2006

CHOIR GETS A RAISE THANKS TO WESTLIFE AND G4

The Morriston Orpheus Choir’s Anniversary concert will be a bit different this year as, apart from being in the splendid Brangwyn Hall, some thoroughly modern works make it onto the running order. Musical director Sian Pearce will be introducing Bohemian Rhapsody, which helped G4 rise to fame, and the Westlife hit “Your Raise Me Up” will also be included amongst the more traditional choir fayre.

Sian said: “We wanted to try something a bit different this year, and while these songs are modern, they are perfectly suited to a male choir such as the Morriston Orpheus.“We’ve had some success at modern pieces before, and hope our fans will appreciate this latest venture.” “Whilst it is very important that we perform the traditional pieces synonymous with Male Voice Choirs, we hope that these sorts of songs will appeal to a younger and broader audience too.  The Morriston Orpheus Choir has always been known for its diverse repertoire, and long may we continue to be at the forefront of bringing variety to the Male Voice Choir programme”.

The concert is at the Brangwyn Hall, Swansea on June 10th. Tickets are priced at £12, £10, £6, are available from the Grand Theatre booking office on 01792 475715
